Job description
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Install and test all data and voice communication equipment
- Configure, maintain and monitor end user telecommunication hardware and devices
- Perform on-site analysis thorough testing equipment to identify and isolate problems
- Repair systems and equipment through trouble shooting until issues are resolved
- Update plant records
- Locate our utilities throughout our exchange
- Maintain a current knowledge of emerging products, services, protocols and standards in support of telecommunication equipment development efforts
- Generate telecommunications equipment usage and inventory reports as required
- Perform other related duties as requested
- Part of an on-call rotation to respond to after-hours callouts
Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of voice communication and digital technology
- Calix B Series Switches, Ribbon C15, Brocade knowledge is a bonus
- Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Interact with co-workers and customers in a professional manner
- Demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and independently
- High School Diploma or equivalent, plus 2 years of telecommunications schooling or work experience
Other Requirements:
- Able to distinguish colors of wire
- Able to move equipment weighing up to 75 pounds
- Able to stoop, bend, twist, squat, kneel, push, pull and reach
- Comfortable traveling to and entering customers’ residence
- Must have a high standard of workmanship, reliability and work ethic
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications
